Southern California Gas Company’s Honor Rancho Natural Gas Storage Facility was facing critical challenges due to its aging electrical infrastructure.
Outdated equipment posed significant safety risks, compromised reliability, and hindered the facility’s ability to meet current and future operational demands.
PARSONS faced the additional challenge of quickly ramping up its team to address these urgent issues effectively.
Action
DST Engineers partnered as an MBE with PARSONS, and undertook a comprehensive electrical system upgrade project. Key elements included:
Design and implementation of a new 16.5kV electrical service.
Installation of a medium voltage power distribution center and 3 low voltage power distribution centers.
Re-feeding existing loads to enhance system efficiency.
Integration of new remote I/O panels and advanced control systems.
Comprehensive electrical infrastructure upgrades, including cabling, conduit, and tray routing.
DST Value Addition
DST Engineers demonstrated agility by rapidly ramping up a qualified team to support Parsons, enabling swift initiation and execution of the project.
Enhanced safety through the replacement of outdated equipment.
Increased reliability and efficiency of the electrical infrastructure.
Improved operational capabilities to support existing and future plant requirements.
Successful integration of new technologies and control systems.
